24 January 2024Joyce Elaine Gallup, 78, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024, at her daughter’s residence surrounded by family.
A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, led by Kenny Gray. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Joyce’s obituary. Luncheon will follow the funeral service at the Onawa Community Center, Onawa, Iowa. A private family burial will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Decatur, Nebraska. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service, Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of the Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Joyce Elaine Fass was born September 30, 1945, in Staten Island, New York, the daughter of Walter and Charlotte (Marsh) Fass Sr. She grew up in Miami, Florida. Joyce graduated from Southwest High School in Miami, Florida, with the class of 1964.
Joyce and Larry Gallup were united in marriage on June 26, 1965, in Miami, Florida. Joyce stayed at home to raise her family. She worked at the Post Office in Decatur, Nebraska, for over ten years.
The couple moved from Decatur to Onawa in 2000 where they enjoyed raising cows and chickens on their acreage. They loved traveling to different places every year, seeing much of the country.
Joyce enjoyed camping, reading, traveling, HGTV, baking, and gardening. She was great with sewing, crocheting, and anything with crafts. Joyce loved spending time with her family, it was the highlight of her life.
She was a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. This was a very important part of Joyce’s life.
Survivors include her children, Cynthia Gallup of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jennifer (Danny) Huffman of Onawa, Iowa, Gregory (Staci) Gallup of Denison, Iowa, Melanie (Jeff) Black of Onawa, Iowa, and Brian (Shannon) Gallup of Turin, Iowa; grandchildren, Kevin Huffman of Decatur, Nebraska, Andrew Huffman of Onawa, Iowa, Mitch (Kourtney) Huffman of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Bradley Gallup of Waterloo, Iowa, Nathan Gallup of Sioux City, Iowa, Cole Goslar of Denison, Iowa, Morgan Goslar of Denison, Iowa, Claire Gallup of Denison, Iowa, Emma Black of Onawa, Iowa, Kaitlyn Black of Onawa, Iowa, and Charlotte Gallup of Turin, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Lilly Huffman and Landry Huffman; brother, Walter Fass, Jr., of Miami, Florida; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Hennig of Decatur, Nebraska, and Linda (Gary) Warren of Decatur, Nebraska; and many other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Gallup; parents, Walter and Charlotte (Marsh) Fass Sr.; parents-in-law, Ralph and Mary (Kessinger) Chase; and Larry’s father, Raymond Gallup.
