Mrs. H.D. Sheumaker, 95, of Mapleton, died Wednesday, June 4, 1980, in a nursing home at Mapleton following a long illness.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Walter Funeral Home at Mapleton. The Rev. Louis Aitken officiated. Burial was in the Danbury Cemetery at Danbury, Iowa.

Mrs. Sheumaker, the former Gertrude Viola Crouch, was born April 18,1885, to John and Myra (Miller) Crouch, at Nebraska City, Nebraska. She later moved with her parents to Redding where she taught school for several years.

She was married to Dr. H. D. Sheumaker on June 1,1910, at Redding. They moved to Tingley before moving to Mapleton in 1970. He died in 1974.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Marian) Stark of Traer; a son, Dr. R.G. of Danbury; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three sisters.

Pallbearers were Dr. James Stark, Garry Beightol, David Colbert, Steve Rendall, David Davis and Steve Bauer.
