Michael Bernard MacClure, 47, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at his home.

A funeral service will be 7:00 P.M. Friday, January 5, 2024, at the Hope Evangelical Free Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Stan Johnson, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Michael’s obituary. A visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday, January 5, 2024, at the Hope Evangelical Free Church, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments in Onawa, Iowa.

Michael Bernard was born February 14, 1976, in Scotland, South Dakota, the son of Donald and Kay (Russell) MacClure. He attended Whiting High School and graduated with the class of 1994. After graduating high school, Michael attended culinary school in South Dakota.

He used his culinary skills in many restaurants. Michael worked at Janz Restaurant, where his claim to frame was having a burger named after him called the “Mick Burger”.

Michael enjoyed nature and taking hikes. He had an interest in knives, and he forged knives with his brother-in-law. He enjoyed working with different pieces of wood and making walking sticks.

He was baptized at “Praise In The Park” with the Hope Evangelical Free Church in Onawa the Summer of 2023.

Survivors include his wife, Schadra MacClure of Onawa, Iowa; father, Donald MacClure of Onawa, Iowa; mother, Kay MacClure of Whiting, Iowa; mother-in-law, Alice Archer of Moorhead, Iowa; children, Jess (fiancé Vince Nielson) Funkhouser of Sioux City, Iowa, Eli Funkhouser of Sioux City, Iowa, Emerson MacClure of Sioux City, Iowa, and Jocelyn MacClure of Onawa, Iowa; grandchildren, Kylie Funkhouser, Mercy Funkhouser, and Valor Funkhouser all of Sioux City, Iowa; siblings, Brooke, Sara, Joseph, and Tyler; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jim and Esther MacClure; maternal grandparents, Dale and Arleen Russell; father-in-law, Tony Funkhouser; grandparents-in-law, Neil and Peg Kirkpatrick, and Peter “Jiggs” and Ruth Funkhouser; and many other relatives, and friends.
