MAPLETON, Iowa -- Henrietta C. Flanigan, 92, of Mapleton died Sunday in the Dunlap Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton. Monsignor A.W. Behrens will officiate. Burial will be in Danbury Catholic Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. today by St. Mary's Guild and 8 p.m. by the parish in Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Flanigan, the former Henrietta Murphy, was born Nov. 7, 1894, in Soldier Township, Crawford County. She graduated from Denison Normal Teachers College and taught school in rural Crawford County for several years. She worked in Leeds in Sioux City as part owner of Murphy's Confectionery Store and also for Northwestern Bell in Sioux City for several years. She married Martin Flanigan May 17, 1930. The couple farmed in Crawford County. He died Dec. 25, 1971. She moved into Mapleton in 1972 and had been a resident of the Dunlap Care Center since March 1987.

Mrs. Flanigan was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Guild.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Donald (JoAnne) Seufert of Ute; three sons, Joseph of Mapleton, Robert of Charter Oak and Donald of Mapleton; a sister, Mrs. Ellen Bargelt of Mapleton; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
