Elsie Edna Grandgenett, 94, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2023, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa, surrounded by family.

A Memorial Service will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, August 17, 2023, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, in Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Clif Cockburn, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Elsie’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery in Onawa, Iowa. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, in Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Elsie Edna was born June 16, 1929 in Turin, Iowa, the daughter of Hiram and Edna (Steward) Campbell. She attended school in Onawa.

Elsie and Ben Grandgenett were married on February 9, 1946. To this union two daughters were born, Cathy and Thelma. Ben passed away February 8, 2005.

She worked at West Monona as a custodian and a cook for several years. Elsie also worked at Elmwood in the dietary department. Later, Elsie volunteered at the Burgess Health Center. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Onawa, Iowa.

Elsie enjoyed sewing. She was an avid Atlanta Braves Baseball fan. Elsie loved spending her time with her family and making them homemade noodles around the holidays.

Survivors include her two daughters, Cathy (Dennis) Lawrence Sr. of Onawa, Iowa, and Thelma Grandgenett of Altoona, Iowa; grandchildren, Denny (Amy) Lawrence Jr. of Onawa, Iowa, Jeff (Stacy) Lawrence of Onawa, Iowa, and Barry (Angie) Grandgenett of Altoona, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Lawrence, Kalyssa Lawrence, Dakota Lawrence, Taylor Lawrence, Max Lawrence, Ian Lawrence, Blake Bellis, Zach Lawrence, Alex Lawrence, Isaac Lawrence, Paige Grandgenett, Claire Grandgenett, and Abbey Grandgenett; great-great-grandchildren, Londyn Lawrence, Kingston Lawrence, Zailey Lawrence, Brooklyn Lawrence, Aubree Lawrence, and Scout Lawrence; and brother, Floyd (Jeanie) Campbell of Silver City, Iowa; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her, husband, Ben Grandgenett; parents, Hiram and Edna (Steward) Campbell; and several brothers and sisters.
