MOORHEAD, Iowa -- Jens Christian "Chris" Thogersen, 86, of Moorhead died Thursday, Nov. 14, 1996, at his home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead with the Rev. Margo Fohs officiating. Burial will be in Ingeman Cemetery, Moorhead. Visitation will" be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, Iowa.

Mr. Thogersen was born Oct. 16, 1910, in Grimstrup, Denmark, the son of Magnus and Anna Kristina (Madsen) Thogersen. He came to this country with his parents in 1913 and settled in Sioux City. The family later moved to the Belvidere and Sioux Townships, eventually buying a farm near Moorhead. Mr. Thogersen attended the Mann School near Moorhead. He was married to Bethine Petersen on Feb. 22, 1936, by the Rev. Anderson at the Onawa Parsonage of the Lutheran Church. Mr. Thogersen farmed near Moorhead until retiring in 1975. The couple spent their next 12 winters in Texas, and then moved to Moorhead in 1987.

Mr. Thogersen was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead. He enjoyed fishing, music and dancing, and was a musician.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Joyce and Dan Thomson of Denver, Colo., a son and his wife, Terry and Lorna of Richmond, Texas; four grandchildren, Mark, Scott, Christine and Julie; two great-grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Vera and Glen Walker of Blencoe, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Donna Thogersen of Onawa.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar and a sister, Eva.
