TURIN, Iowa -- Ingrid C. Shaffer, 92, of Turin died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1996, at the Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Steven C. Hetzel officiating. Burial will be in Ingeman Cemetery in Moorhead, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mrs. Shaffer was born Dec. 17, 1903, near Turin, the daughter of Christian and Juliann (Moller) Madsen. She married Arthur Francis Jordan on May 18, 1929, in Elk Point, S.D. He died Dec. 7, 1936, near Holly Springs, Iowa. She married Merle L. Shaffer Feb. 23, 1939, in Ida Grove, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm near Turin from 1940. He died March 21, 1993, in Onawa. She worked for the American Cancer society.

Mrs. Shaffer was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa, and the woman's activities at the church, the American Legion Auxiliary Grimsley-Thayer Post 502 at Castana, Iowa, the Neighborly Pals Club, and in 1975, she was recognized by the Sioux City Chamber of Commerce for service in the community.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Karen and Sheldon Zimmerman of Red Wing, Minn., two sons and their wives, Jack and Ruth Jordon and Fran and Judi all of Turin; four grandchildren, Jim, Scott, and Shane Jordon, and Joshua Zimmerman; three step-grandchildren, John and Eric Zimmerman and Ann Begin, four step-great-grandchildren and a sister, Emily Miner of Cullowhee, N. C.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Axel, Magnus, Richard and Ted Madsen, one sister, Olive Burke.
