Lorna Marie (Rolph) McNeill, 91, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Monday, June 5, 2023 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa.

A memorial service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa led by Elder Lonnie Campbell. Live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Lorna’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Lorna Marie was born December 15, 1931 in Mondamin, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Irene (Wallis) Rolph. The family moved to Onawa where Lorna graduated from Onawa High School in 1949. Lorna was a member of the 1949 Onawa High School Girls Basketball team that went to the State Basketball Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa.

Lorna Rolph and David G. McNeill were married August 30, 1952 in Onawa, Iowa and to this union five children were born, David, Victoria, Donald, Kathleen, and Amelia “Millie”. They lived in various cities and states before moving back to their hometown of Onawa in 1975. The couple later divorced in 1987.

During most of Lorna’s career she worked for and retired from US West-Quest in Omaha. In addition, Lorna worked part time for many years at Jubilee Grocery Store in Onawa. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Lorna was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Lorna was hard working like all of her siblings. They grew up canning from each other’s gardens and were always willing to share their harvest with those in need. Lorna and her brothers and sisters had a special bond, and you could often see them giggling and enjoying their time together at family gatherings. She also enjoyed her adventures traveling with her girls or brothers and sisters, trips to the casino, or just wherever her trusty vehicle would go. Lorna’s home on Pearl Street was the coffee hub on many mornings for the extended family.

Lorna is survived by her children, Victoria (Dennis) Carroll of Kansas City, Missouri, Donald (Ava) McNeill of Bow, New Hampshire, Kathleen (John) Steffes of Carroll, Iowa, and Millie (Bill) McNeill-Wiemeri of Champlin, Minnesota; ten grandchildren, Jason, Brian, Kevin, Farrah, Rory, Johnny, Robby, Annie, Lexi, and Austin; seven great-grandchildren, Alora, Oliver, Grayson, Jacire, Logan, Levi, and Addyson; siblings, Colleen (Mike) Vaughn, and Wally Rolph; sister-in-law, Bonnie Rolph; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, David G. McNeill, II; parents, Earl and Irene (Wallis) Rolph; siblings, Kathryn (Mel) Oaks, Alvena (Paul) Phillips, Lois (Jack) Miller, Norman (Marsha) Rolph, and Gordon (Charlotte) Rolph; sister-in-law, Lorna Rolph; and former husband, David G. McNeill.

The family would like to thank St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa for the extraordinary care provided to their mother for the past seven years.

Memorials may be directed in Lorna’s memory and payable to: West Central Community Action, Memo on Check: Food Bank, 801 10th Street Suite B, Onawa, Iowa, 51040 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3535 Southern Hills Drive Building D, Sioux City, Iowa, 51106.
