Brian Kay Daugherty, 55, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, at his residence.

A celebration of life service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Catie Newman, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Brian’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. A luncheon will take place at the Onawa Community Center, Onawa, Iowa, following the burial. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Brian was born October 10, 1967, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Danny Daugherty and Jill Peters. He attended school in Hartley, Iowa, till his sophomore year, and finished the last two years and graduated from North High School in Sioux City, Iowa. After graduating high school, he attended college on a football scholarship at Morningside College, Sioux City, Iowa, where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree. Brian excelled at football and played for Morningside Chiefs Football wearing the #61 jersey. Brian was known as “Big-D” to all his friends.

He worked in media and technology sales for many years in the Sioux City, Lincoln, and Omaha areas.

Brian enjoyed all sports, especially football. He was an avid fan of the Nebraska Huskers. Brian was a member of the Westside Church, Omaha, Nebraska.

Survivors include his mother, Jill Peters of Murrieta, California; brother, Tony (Holly) Peters and nephew Huxley of Winchester, California; stepbrother, Steve (Judy) Peters of Hartley, Iowa; nephew, Huxley Peters; stepmother, Mary Beth Daugherty of Sioux City, Iowa; and several nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Danny Daugherty; grandparents, Rex and Ardis (Eskelsen) Seitzinger, and Darrell and Juanita (Hutchinson) Daugherty; stepsister, Teri; stepbrother, John; and stepfather, Hebert (Herb) Peters.
