Teresa Mae (Pokorny) Beck, 90, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Unity Point Health-St. Luke’s, Sioux City, Iowa.

A memorial mass will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Father Michael Erpelding, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Teresa’s obituary. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. A luncheon will follow at the church. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Teresa was born December 28, 1932, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the first born of William Joseph and Barbara Ann (Coufal) Pokorny. After graduating from Sloan High School, she worked at the Sloan State Bank.

Teresa and George Edward Beck were married April 7, 1956, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Salix, Iowa. They made their home in Onawa, Iowa, and raised four children; Gregory, Diane, Richard, and Patrick.

Teresa enjoyed cooking, gardening, and keeping in touch with all her many friends and relatives. She loved wintering in Texas. She was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church, Rosary Society, Sloan Birthday Club, and a past member of Monona County Fair Board.

Survivors include her children, Gregory Beck of Sterling, Colorado, Diane Beck of Omaha, Nebraska, Richard (Joan) Beck of Omaha, Nebraska, and Patrick Beck of Onawa, Iowa; granddaughters, Kaitlin Beck of Omaha, Nebraska, and Emily Beck of Bloomington, Indiana; sister, Siena (David) Witt of Port Charlotte, Florida; sister-in-law, Julie Pokorny of Bryant, Iowa; brother-in-law, Roger Franks of Clinton, Iowa; and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Beck; parents, William and Barbara (Coufal) Pokorny; brothers, James Pokorny, and William Pokorny Jr.; and sisters, Ardean (William) Carlson, and Marcia Franks.
