Bruce “Wayne” Joyner, 66, of Soldier, Iowa passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at his residence with his wife, Sheri by his side.

A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Soldier Lutheran Church, Soldier, Iowa with Pastor Paul Coen, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Wayne’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Soldier Lutheran Cemetery, Soldier, Iowa with Military Honors provided by the United States Army and Masonic Rites by Shiloh Lodge of Omaha, Nebraska. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Bruce Wayne was born December 18, 1955 in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of Angus and Berenice (Rowe) Joyner.

Wayne served in the United States Army from April 14, 1975, until his honorable discharge on April 13, 1978. After serving his country, he attended college and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Economics. Wayne owned and operated a computer business in Virginia called Joyner Computer Services. In 1995, Wayne moved to Omaha, Nebraska where he worked as a Network Engineer for CSG Systems.

Wayne and Sheri Woods were united in marriage on February 2, 2002 in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple moved to Soldier, Iowa in 2002. The couple lived on a farm and raised Llamas for seven years. Wayne enjoyed fishing, woodworking, photography, and Ham Radio (K0BWJ). Wayne designed and built a bookstore for Sheri in Soldier, called Sheri’s Book Treasures. Wayne had a great sense of humor and was always known as “Sheri’s husband.”

Wayne was a member of the Shiloh Masonic Lodge in Omaha, Nebraska.

Survivors include his wife, Sheri Joyner of Soldier, Iowa; step mother, Anita Joyner of Chesapeake, Virginia; children, Amy (Matthew) Mellington of Suffolk, Virginia; Debra (Jarrod) Backman of Omaha, Nebraska, Melissa Wike of Omaha, Nebraska, and Christopher Anderson of Mildenhall Air Force Base in England; grandchildren, Britney Conney, Katelyn Conney, Conner Mellington, Elijah Mellington, Addison Wike, Payton Wike, Ashur Wike, and Chloe Anderson; sister, Sherri (David) Yoho of Virginia; brother, Andrew Bland Joyner of Virginia; special aunt, Margie Caroline Watkins of Florida; mother-in-law, Susan Woods of San Diego, California; brother-in-law, Robert (Jennifer) Woods of Phoenix, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Angus and Berenice (Rowe) Joyner; sister, Alise Winfrey; and father-in-law, Virgil Woods.
