Virgie “Jane” Heck, 92, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Elmwood Care Centre, Onawa, Iowa.

A funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Darren C. E. Goslar, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Jane’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. A visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Monday, May 9, 2022 at the chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Virgie Jane was born July 27, 1929 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Magnus “Mac” and Genevieve (Rounsborg) Madsen. They lived south of Turin on the family farm. Jane attended the Brown Country School through 8th grade, Castana High School for two years and Moorhead High School for two years where she graduated in 1948. In August of 1948 she went to work for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Onawa and retired from the telephone company, January 1, 1984.

Jane married Robert D. Heck July 31, 1952 in Grand Island, Nebraska. To this union one child was born, Charles. Robert passed away August 17, 1997 in Sioux City, Iowa.

Jane enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, knitting, cake decorating, and going to garage sales. Jane was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa.

Survivors include her son, Charles “Chuck” (Kim) Heck of Coalville, Iowa; grandchildren, Tracy Erlandson of Onawa, Iowa, Zach Heck of Coalville, Iowa, and Tony Heck of Duncombe, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Taylor Erlandson, Brandon Erlandson, Clara Heck, and William Heck; one brother, Charles (Peggy) Madsen of Crescent, Iowa; one sister, JoAnn (Dick) Thoreson of Sioux City, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Heck; parents, Magnus “Mac” and Genevieve (Rounsborg) Madsen; four brothers, Curt Madsen, Franklin Madsen, Page Madsen, and Burdette Madsen; sister, Virginia VanNess; infant sister, Mary Ann Madsen; brother-in-law, Darrel VanNess; and two sisters-in-law, Jeannie Madsen and Betty Madsen.
