Kelly Dean Hansen, 54, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.

A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the Onawa United Methodist Church, Onawa, Iowa with Lay Servant Anthony Bainbridge officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Kelly’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Belvidere Cemetery, rural Turin, Iowa with Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force and the David McNeill American Legion Post #129 of Onawa, Iowa. A visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Kelly Dean was born August 21, 1967 in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Kenneth Earl and Shirley Ann (Stoner) Hansen. He grew up in Carroll, Iowa area and then moved to Turin, Iowa in 1976. Kelly attended West Monona and graduated with the class of 1986. After high school, Kelly enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Korea, the Netherlands, and Las Vegas. He served in the Desert Storm.

Kelly and Laura Whittle were married in 1996 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They were later divorced.

Kelly received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Phoenix. He received his Master’s Degree in Business. Kelly was a former director at the Monona County Veterans Affairs and former director for the Woodbury County Veterans Affairs. He will be missed by many who loved him dearly.

He was an avid Buffalo Bills and Hawkeye Fan. Kelly loved his two dogs, Sissy and Bubba.

Survivors include his parents, Kenneth and Shirley (Stoner) Hansen; his sister, Sandra Mortensen of Pender, Nebraska; nieces and nephews, Bobbie (Craig) Sherer of Onawa, Iowa, Shellie Nelson of Thurston, Nebraska, Michael McClure of Onawa, Iowa, Josh (Krista) Henry of Omaha, Nebraska, Zachary Henry of Pender, Nebraska, and Meghan (Ben Manning) Henry of Sioux City, Iowa; great-nieces and nephews, Xavier, Wyatt, Londyn, Elijah, Lauren, Brendyn, MaliAnn, Ansen, Nora, Eleanor, and Joplin; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Mark Kenneth Hansen; sister, LeAnn Marie McClure; brother, Steven Lynn Hansen; infant sister, Julie Ann Hansen; maternal grandparents, Ernest Edward and Leta June (Willson) Stoner; paternal grandparents, Holger Alfred and Florence Irene (Shafer) Hansen; and former wife, Laura Hansen.
