Marlene R. Parr, 58, of Castana, Iowa passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa after a lengthy battle with lung problems.
A funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 19, 2022 at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Mapleton, Iowa with Pastor Linda Boggs, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Marlene’s obituary. Burial will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Mapleton, Iowa. A visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Marlene ReNae was born October 26, 1963 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Margaret (Means) Wacheldorf of Mapleton. Marlene grew up in Mapleton and attended school at Maple Valley School and later received her GED.
Marlene married Keith Parr on August 27, 1983 and had two children, Daniel in 1982 and Stephanie in 1990. They made their home in Castana, Iowa. Marlene worked various jobs as a cashier, later settling in at Bomgaars in Onawa, until she became ill with a lung condition in 2019.
Marlene enjoyed riding motorcycles with Keith on weekend rides. She enjoyed her bird feeders and watching the birds.
Survivors include her husband, Keith Parr of Castana, Iowa; son, Daniel (Stephanie) Parr of Hornick, Iowa; three grandchildren, Kenny Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri, Seth Johnson of Papillion, Nebraska, and Gabe Johnson of Hornick, Iowa; sister, Bonnie Wacheldorf of Mapleton, Iowa; brother, Rick Wacheldorf of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; sister-in-law, Kate Wacheldorf of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; brother-in-law, Kevin (Pam) Parr of Moorhead, Iowa; sister-in-law, Kimber (Shane) Bartlett of Castana, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Troy (Nicole) Dobrovolny of Crown Point, Indiana, Jennifer (Kyle) Lechler of Omaha, Nebraska, Jodi (Brett) Kafton of Mapleton, Iowa, Brian (Samantha) Wacheldorf of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Ryan (Chrissy) Wacheldorf of Omaha, Nebraska, Nick (Sarah) Schoenherr of Williston, North Dakota, Zack (A’dalle) Schoenherr of Mapleton, Iowa, Alan Spencer of Soldier, Iowa, Amy Spencer of Pisgah, Iowa, Kyle Parr of Arizona, and Jeremy Parr of Onawa, Iowa; great-nieces and nephews, Payton, Trey, Matthew, Jacob, Nathan, Bryce, Brody, David, Dustin, Jase, Drayton, Remington, Emery, and Destiny.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Margaret (Means) Wacheldorf; daughter, Stephanie Parr; sister, Lynnette Dobrovolny; parents-in-law, Jack and Nora Parr; and great nephew, Stephen Kafton.
