Mary E. Dunagan-Hunt, 87 of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022 peacefully in her sleep. Services will be held 10:00am Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Albaton, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Mary was born November 5, 1934 in Albaton, Iowa the daughter of Otis and Mabel (Swan) Olson. She was baptized on January 6, 1935 and confirmed June 15, 1947 in the Skien Lutheran Church. Mary attended both Whiting and Sloan Schools graduating in 1952. On September of 1952 she married Darrel Dunagan to which four children were born; Brenda, Randy, Mike and Lori. Mary and Darrel later divorced. Mary married Charles B. “Bruce” Hunt on July 9, 1988 in Lake Tahoe, NV; he passed away February 15, 2016. Mary and Charles enjoyed spending the winter months in Arizona and at their cabin in Yankton, SD.

She was a member of the United Community Methodist Church; she belonged to the Faith Circle and the UMW. Mary was also helped make prayer shawls for the church and was a past president of the Men Sukiho Shrine Group.

Mary worked many years as an election official, Payless Cashways for 11 years, and drove the SBL van for 13 years for the Sergeant Bluff School System. She loved to garden, can, and bake. Mary especially enjoyed making Santa cookies and sandbakkels at Christmas.

She leaves behind her three children; Michael (Diane) Dunagan, two daughters, Brenda and Lori, two step daughters, Charlene Loula, Lynda (Michael) Driscoll, 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, niece, Sandy (Tim) Holmberg, and numerous cousins.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles, son, Randall Dunagan, step son, Chuck Loula, son-in-law, Dennis Whitecar, sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Wayne Beach, two grandchildren, Amy and Kara Starzl, and two nieces, Dona Tucker and Debi Vernon Ross.
