Norma Jean Buschmann 1938 - 2021

Norma Jean Buschmann was born September 10, 1938, to Edward and Alma (Ketelsen) Preul. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak and confirmed her faith at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City. Norma attended three rural schools, Lutheran School in Charter Oak, going on to high school and graduating with the class of 1956. She attended Commercial Extension receiving a certificate in Medical Secretarial field. Her work included AT&T, Gregerson Elevator, Berne Coop, and 18 years at Crossroads of Western Iowa. .

Norma married Henry Buschmann and to this union five children were born: Richard, Alan, Terry, Patty and Randy. Norma enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended various activities of each one as time and health permitted. Ball games, dance recitals, Christmas and Easter Egg hunts were among her favorites. Norma was and remained active in her church, St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute. She enjoyed traveling and went on several bus tours and an Alaskan Cruise.

Norma passed away at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at the age of 83 years, one month and 28 days.

Norma is survived by her husband, Henry Buschmann of Ute; sons: Alan (Lori Schroeder) Buschmann of Sac City, Terry Buschmann of Mapleton and Randy (Rahna) Buschmann of Sioux City; daughter, Patty (Ron) Throckmorton of Carroll; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Betty (Dennis) Schmidt of Denison; sisters-in-law: Cheryl Preul of Yuma, Arizona and Elaine (Don) Kemper of Omaha, Nebraska; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Richard Buschmann; her parents, Eddie and Alma Preul; and brother, Robert Preul.

A prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2021, with the visitation to follow from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. all at the Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute. Interment will be held in the St. Clair Cemetery in Ute. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Tori's Angels (the foundation that helped Avery so much) of Panora, Trivium Life Services of Onawa, or Heights Home Health of Mapleton.
