Francis “Frank” E. Getzfreid, Jr., 70, of Castana, Iowa passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, February 5, 2022 at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa.

A memorial service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Jack Gibler, officiating. (Please bring and wear masks). A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Frank’s obituary. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Francis Ellsworth, Jr. was born November 12, 1951 in Montana, the son of Francis Ellsworth Getzfreid, Sr. and Elizabeth (Buechler) Getzfreid. Frank was raised in Wyoming on a cattle and horse ranch.

Frank and Barbara Ann Rasmussen were married August 1, 1998 in Onawa, Iowa. Barb and Frank owned and operated Barb and Frank’s Steakhouse in Onawa, Iowa for several years.

Frank was a Jack of all trades. He drove over the road semi, was a motorcycle mechanic, and enjoyed carpentry. Frank enjoyed watching Katie, Colten, Austin, and Kash at the Rodeo. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren all about mechanic work. Frank loved riding his Harley and his horses. Frank had a new love for plasma cutting and artwork.

Survivors include, his wife, Barb Getzfreid of Castana, Iowa; children, Frank Getzfreid, III, Chrystal Getzfreid, Charles Getzfreid, Andy Getzfreid, and step-daughter, Katie Paulsen; several grandchildren in Wyoming and Washington State; local grandchildren, Colten Madison, Austin Madison, and Kash Paulsen; several great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Getzfreid, Sr. and Elizabeth (Buechler) Getzfreid; and several other family members and friends.
