Ronald “Ronnie” Wayne Lee, 76, of Mapleton, (formerly of Onawa) passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Ronnie was born April 19, 1945 in Onawa, the son of Ardell Wayne and Lenora Clara Elizabeth (Nagel) Lee. He grew up on a farm near Albaton, Iowa. Ronnie attended Whiting Community School. He worked for Loomis Farms after high school.

Ronnie worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for thirty-two years until his retirement in 2004. He fixed the track, and put lots of rails on the track. He loved to work.

Ronnie enjoyed fishing, camping with family, going for drives out to Blue Lake, and going out to eat. He loved nature, and was very social.

Ronnie attended Skien Lutheran Church in Albaton.

Survivors include his children, Wendy (Jerry) Hayden of Soldier, Shawn (Stephanie) Lee of Soldier, and step-son, Michael McCall and his family of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Thomas Hayden, Victor Hayden, Allyson Lee, Ethan Blue, Sophia Blue, Rena Skarin all of Soldier, and Kara (Josh) VanBeek of Sioux City; brothers and sisters, Duane Lee of Moorhead, Vern (Crystal) Lee of Soldier, Karen (Kevin) Clayton of Turin, Donna Lou (Jerry) Sutton of Omaha, Sharon Lee of Omaha, and Roger (Kathy) Lee of Omaha; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ardell Wayne and Lenora Clara Elizabeth (Nagel) Lee; sister, Ardiths Roberts; brother, Raymond Lee; and two sisters-in-law, Donna Lee and Shirley Lee.

Memorials in Ronnie’s memory, may be directed to the Mapleton Ambulance, 513 Main Street, Mapleton, Iowa 51034.

Funeral Services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3 at the Skien Lutheran Church, Albaton, with Pastor Craig Bock officiating. Music selections were “King Of The Road” – CD, “Church In The Wildwood” – CD, “How Great Thou Art” – Solo, “Life’s Railway To Heaven” – CD, Granddaddy’s Chair” – CD, and “Go Rest High On That Mountain” – CD with Darren C. E. Goslar as soloist and Deb Lauritsen as organist.

Burial was in the Fairview Township Cemetery, Albaton. Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa. Arrangements were under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa.

Casket bearers were Kenny Hopkins, Ethan Blue, Jerry Hayden, Thomas Hayden, Ally Lee, and Casey Skarin.

Honorary bearers were Roger Lee, Vern Lee, and Duane Lee.
