An Intercessory Prayer to God
(In honor of Bert Wilson)He asked neither riches nor fame
Nor did he desire a name
That would ring through his history’s pagesStill this man was a man for the ages.
For wherever he went he brought peaceTo the soul.
Until the Angel of goodness brought releaseUnto him, and took him to Heaven his goal.
His sermons were in daily deedsHe cared little for caste or for creeds
He helped many a wayfarer upon lies highwayUntil his life met eternal day.
So let him continue good willTo men.
And every soul in Heaven with goodness fillThen he will be happy Lord
Amen (by Helen Phillips)
