LAUREL, Neb. (Died Whiting, Iowa)
Mary Iler, 93, of Laurel died Sunday, Dec. 15, 1996, in Whiting, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Laurel, with the Rev. Glen Emert officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Schumacher Funeral Home in Laurel.
Mrs. Iler was born Sept. 6, 1903, in Sloan, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Anna (Michel) Krebs. She was baptized in Sloan and confirmed at Rose Hill Church. She attended school in Dixon County and Wayne Normal School in Wayne, Neb.
She taught rural school south of Laurel.
She married Earl Iler on April 2, 1927, in Yankton, S.D. The couple made their home in Laurel. He died in 1959.
She was a member of Laurel United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include two daughters, Arlene Smith of Waterman, Ill., and Karen and her husband, Edward Wiedenfeld, of Onawa, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Karl Krebs of Caldwell, Idaho; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, a sister and four brothers.
Pallbearers will be Art and Carrol Lipp, Jim Urwiler, Jim Campbell, Dr. David Felber, Harold "Tiny" Ward and Kenny Wacker.
