Clara Grace Dahl

SLOAN, Iowa - Clara Grace Dahl, 94, of Whiting, Iowa died Monday, Nov. 25, 1996, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Skien Lutheran Church in Albaton, Iowa, with the Rev. Peter V. Boe officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Wood Funeral Home of Sloan is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dahl was born July 24, 1902, in Oto, Iowa, the daughter of Anton and Engeborg (Opdahl) Hosteng. She graduated from Sac City High School. She received Normal Training and taught school for several years. In August 1926, she married Howard Dahl. He died in 1953. The couple had farmed in the Sloan area. She lived in Canton, S.D., Tucson, Ariz, and Lemon Grove, Calif, until 1980, when she moved to Spencer, Iowa, to be with her brother.

She had been a resident of Whiting since 1991. Mrs. Dahl was a member of the Skien Lutheran Church and the Emery Johnson American Legion Post 481 in Whiting.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Gordon and Barbara of Sloan; five grandchildren, Douglas, Scott, and Jason Dahl, Jill Chestnut, and Kysa Cole; 13 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Pat Dahl of Cedar Park, Texas.

She was preceded in death by a son, Clayton; two brothers; and three sisters
