9 December 2020Norma Jean Christensen Lauritsen, age 88, died November 24, 2020 at Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff, WI.
She was born July 4, 1932 to Meddie and Martenus Christensen of Moorhead, Iowa. In 1951, Norma Jean married Marvin Lauritsen, son of Jens and Mary Lauritsen, also of Moorhead, Iowa. They had 3 children: Terry, Susan and Tammy. Raising 3 children and frequently moving the family to different national forests as Marv’s job required, kept her very busy.
Norma Jean was a talented pianist and a gifted artist, creating several beautiful oil paintings. At the age of 48, Norma Jean returned to college to earn her RN degree. She worked as a nurse both in Tennessee and in Washington, D.C.
Norma Jean and Marv retired to North Carolina and then northern Wisconsin. They spent their retirement years gardening, camping and fishing.
Norma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Maddie and Martenus Christensen, her son Terry (1954-2002), her sister Fran LaSeur, her brother Clayton Christensen and her husband Marvin.
She is survived by her daughters Susan (Larry) Elrod and Tammy (Kurt) Behrendt and grandchildren Adam Lauritsen, Teshia Elrod, Landon Whitlow and Logan Whitlow.
Cremation took place and private family services will be held.
