Deloris entered this world alongside her twin sister Doris on September 5th, 1924 to Floyd Richard and Ada Bertha (Coffman) Crabb. She was born and raised in Little Sioux, Iowa and became a member of the RLDS Church when she was eleven years old. Deloris graduated from Little Sioux High School in May of 1943 and later that same summer entered the School of Nursing at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA.

She was united in marriage to Walter Ivan Carrier on August 21st, 1945 in Ida Grove, IA and remained a devoted wife for over 70 years. Four children were born to this union: Diana Kay (Carrier) Morgan, Daniel Lee Carrier, Mitchell Dale Carrier, and Jo Ann (Carrier) DuVal.

Deloris graduated from nursing school in August of 1946 and began working as an RN in November of 1946 at the Onawa hospital where she worked for 52 years before retiring in November of 1998. She commented that she achieved her American Dream by raising a family and pursuing her career as a nurse. Even though she spent her career working as a night nurse, she made time to help with Camp Fire Girls and Girl Scouts for both of her daughters and was an avid QVC shopper where she always enjoyed finding a nice pair of shoes. She was also an avid collector of teddy bears and loved giving them hugs whenever she received a new one as a gift.

Her family fondly recalls that she always enjoyed caring for her family, preparing family dinners, passing on favorite recipes, and being a life-long nurse. Deloris’ dedication to both family and her nursing career made her a strong role-model for her grandchildren. Three of her granddaughters followed her into the medical profession, two as nurses and one as a surgeon.

One of her other dreams was to see all her grandchildren graduate from high school, which they all accomplished. Deloris was faithful at sending birthday, graduation, and Christmas cards to her family members, and she prepared many wonderful holiday meals that were a feast for all which were always followed by games, stories, and a house full of laughter.

Surviving family include: three children, Diana Morgan of Bellevue, NE; Mitch (Wanda) Carrier of Onawa, IA, Jo Ann (Dean) DuVal of Lebanon, OH; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Deloris was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ada Crabb; three brothers, Charles, Ronald, and Myron; three sisters, Maxine, Margaret, and Doris; her husband, Walter; and their son, Daniel.
