Michael “Mike” Eugene Collison, 61, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020 at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa of complications arising from his recent series of heart attacks.

A public visitation will be held 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa. (WE WILL LIMIT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN THE FUNERAL HOME TO NO MORE THAN 15 AT ONE TIME AND MASKS ARE REQUIRED. - Due to Covid- 19 regulations) A private family service will be held at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa led by Jack Gibler. A celebration of life service and burial in Graceland Cemetery, Blencoe, Iowa will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Michael Eugene Collison was born July 2, 1959 in Onawa, Iowa the son of Douglas Eugene and Loretta Jean (Olson) Collison. He went to school in West Harrison and graduated in 1978.

Mike married Chris Beers June 4, 1982 and a son, Justin Michael Collison was born from this union. Mike married Stacy Moore August 6, 1988 and chose to father two daughters, Salina Lee Collison and Bree Angela Collison. At the time of his death he was single and had a companion cat whom he dearly loved.

Mike was truly an extraordinary gifted man who had mastered many skills. He could repair anything mechanical; he was a welder, electrician, plumber, auto painter, architect, carpenter, semi-truck owner/operator over the road, farmer and a current Monona County Supervisor.

Mike worked at Max Nickolisen Truck Sales where he managed loads and drove truck as well as semi mechanic and truck painter, Case IH as a farm implement mechanic, Monona County Secondary Road Department as a mechanic, and owner/operator over the road truck driver. He enjoyed farming and helping the Charlie Brown Family and Brent Miller Family Farms. Mike currently served as a Monona County Board of Supervisor. He cared about the citizens of Monona County and loved to give back.

Mike enjoyed life, an honest man who always had a smile for everyone. He loved his family and friends. He enjoyed such hobbies as motorcycles and dirt bikes, dune buggies, and snowmobiling. He enjoyed music and was active in vocal as a student. He enjoyed karaoke a lot and was quite good. Mike was a member of the Patriot Guard as well as an original member of the Midnight Mud Slingers.

Mike was a loving, caring, giving person with a generous spirit and he continued that in death through the gift of organ and tissue donation.

Survivors include his children, Salina Collison of Onawa, Iowa, Justin (Carrie) Collison of Albert Lea, Minnesota, and Bree (fiancé Jeremiah Sears) Collison of Onawa, Iowa; his loving cat companion, “Turd”; grandchildren, Alexis (Tylor) Crook, Hope and Hayleigh Hatcher, Payton Purgett, Gracie Clotfelter, Jeremiah Purgett, Deegan Collison, and Hudson Sears; father, Doug Collison of Onawa, Iowa; siblings, William (Leslie) Collison of Beaver, Oklahoma, Susan Collison of Onawa, Iowa, Bradley (Sona) Collison of Searcy, Arkansas, Dennis (Jennifer) Collison of Onawa, Iowa, Patricia Collison of Omaha, Nebraska, Timothy (Kimberly) Collison of Little Sioux, Iowa, Cynthia Collison of Onawa, Iowa, and Christopher (Karla) Collison of Onawa, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Loretta Collison; brother, Donald Collison; and his grandparents.
