Albert Zimmer Is Killed

Well Known Castana Farmer Meets Untimely Death In Auto Accident

Which Occurred Monday Night South of Whiting When A Collision by an Automobile and the Truck He was Driving Took Place

Albert Zimmer of Castana, Iowa, 59-year-old, was killed on the road a mile and a quarter south of Whiting, Iowa Monday night when his truck was struck by a car driven by C.H. Wood of Gregory, South Dakota.

Zimmer was crushed against the steering wheel. Both cars were going the same way.

The accident occurred about 6:30 p.m. Witnesses said Wood attempted to pass Zimmer but met a large bus when he was parallel with the truck and was forced to turn into the truck in order to avoid colliding with the bus. His car rammed the car of the Zimmer truck caving it in. The truck cab was demolished, Woods car was damaged badly.

The dead man’s brother, C.C. Zimmer was riding with him at the time. He was not injured. A trailer carrying a sawmill was attached to the truck.

In Wood’s carat the time of the accident were Mrs. Wood and Miss Annie Marek of Gregory. All were enroute to Moorhead, Iowa. Two men were bruised slightly and cut. Wood escaped injury. Medical attention was given the injured at Whiting. The body of Zimmer was removed to a Whiting undertaker parlor.

Zimmer was a widower.

Zimmer of Pomona, California and a sister Mrs. Florence Brown of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon.
