22 April 2020John William Collison, Jr., 53, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.
Private Family Graveside Services will be held at the Whiting City Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa, with Pastor Craig Bock, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
John William Collison, Jr. was born June 9, 1966 in Onawa, Iowa the son of John William Collison, Sr. and Mary Alice (Holverson). He grew up near Albaton, Iowa and graduated from Westwood High School in 1985 in Sloan, Iowa. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1989 from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.
He lived in Omaha, Nebraska for 28 years and worked for Mutual of Omaha in the claims department. In 2018 he moved to Onawa, Iowa.
He loved his family, especially his parents and nieces and nephew. He enjoyed the outdoors and doing yardwork.
John was a member of the Skien Lutheran Church in Albaton, Iowa.
John is survived by his parents, John and Mary Collison of Albaton, Iowa; one sister, Patti (Tom) Marr of Whiting, Iowa; nieces, Nicole Jacobson of Whiting, Iowa and Andrea Vaughn of Whiting, Iowa; great-nieces, Jayden, Emma, Caitlyn and Natalie; great-nephew, Zane; and many cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Michael John Collison; niece, Danielle Dawn Withee; maternal grandparents, Howard and Celia (Allen) Holverson; paternal grandparents, Charley and Louise (Christianson) Collison; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
