SIOUX CITY -- Niles Henry Pierce went home to be with his Lord and Savior June 12, 2009.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa, with the Rev. Todd Owen officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. There will be a luncheon at the church following the graveside serivces.

Niles was born Nov. 26, 1934, fifth youngest of five children born to Ella Maude and John Pierce. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in May 1954 and was honorably discharged in October 1961. He worked for Ben Fish Tire Co. in Sioux City before moving to Whiting, Iowa. For the next 20 years, he worked for Sorenson Tire Co., Empire Gas and King Trucking.

He moved to Mount Vernon, Wash. in October 1984. He drove truck for Summerson Gardens and National Frozen Food. He had a five-way bypass surgery in 1993 and suffered a stroke during it.

He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Amy; sons, Tyler of Surprise, Ariz., Kirk of Las Vegas, Nev., and Terry of Onawa, Iowa; and a sister, Virginia of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Kyle and Michael.
