Eva Mae Nelson, 90, of Whiting, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 10, 2020 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Evangelist Dale Wolf, officiating. Burial will be in Hite Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, January 9, 2020 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Eva Mae Nelson was born August 16, 1929 in Jackson, Nebraska, the daughter of Albert and Josie (Thomas) Harvey.

Eva Mae (Harvey) and Johnny Nelson were united in marriage on December 9, 1945 in Glenwood, Iowa. The couple made their lifelong home in Whiting, Iowa.

Eva was a caregiver for Jayne Anne Cochran. She was a homemaker and then worked many years as a custodian at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

She was a great cook and enjoyed working on puzzles. Eva loved watching all sports especially football and Cubs baseball.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn (Bob) Lambert of Hutchinson, Minnesota, Janice (Tim) Blatchford of Onawa, Iowa, and Susie Madsen (and friend, Keith) of Onawa, Iowa; one son, Jeff (Julie) Nelson of Kenosha, Wisconsin; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Patty Porter of Dwight, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Josie (Thomas) Harvey; her husband, Johnny Nelson; two daughters, Connie Waldrip and Jean Moret and three brothers, Donald Harvey, Cleo Harvey, and James “Bud” Harvey.
