Susie Elaine Brink, 66, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Friday, December 20, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 27, 2019 at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa with Hospice Chaplain Dale Wolf and Pastor Larry Wanamaker officiating. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday, December 26, 2019 with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Susan “Susie” Elaine Brink was born February 19, 1953 in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Hollis Duane and Frances Ada (Hughes) Mackey. She grew up in Onawa and graduated from West Monona High School in 1971.

Susie Elaine and Roger Steven Brink were united in marriage on August 15, 1971 in Onawa, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born.

Susie babysat for eight years and then worked at Elmwood Care Centre as an Activity Coordinator for fifteen years. She then began her employment at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa, until she happily retired last Friday, December 13, 2019, where she had worked for twenty-nine years. In 1999 Susie and Roger opened Susie’s Quilts-N-More, fulfilling Susie’s lifelong dream of having her own shop.

Susie loved being with her family, kids and grandchildren. She loved quilting, sewing, gardening, and watching baseball. Her most memorable moments in life were finding and marrying her husband, Roger and the births of her children.

Susie was a member of the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Brink; her two daughters, Julie Ann (Ed) Collison and Toni Lyn (Dwight) Clayton; grandchildren, Charles (Natalie Pfeiffer) Collison, Rebecca (Ryan) Heissel, and Tyler, David, and Jacob Clayton; her sister, Kathy Skelton; her in-laws, William (Kathy) Brink, Ardel (Peggy Lyon) Brink, Gary (Sherrie) Brink, and Patty (Barb Webb) Brink; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many good friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hollis and Frances (Hughes) Mackey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rolla and Lois (Stephenson) Brink; her step-father-in-law, Clifford Hess; brother-in-laws, David Martin and Robert Skelton; and sister-in-law Connie Brink.
