Darleen F. Lee, 92, of Whiting, Iowa passed away Friday, October 25, 2019 at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

A visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, November 1, 2019 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with a Celebration of Life service at 7:00 P.M. Led by Jack Gibler. A private family burial will be at the Hite Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Darleen Fannie was born June 1, 1927 in Onawa, Iowa the daughter of DeWayne Edward and Ada Mae (Cochran) Deen.

Darleen grew up near Whiting, Iowa and attended school in Sloan. She married Paul Sanders who died tragically in an accident. She then married Edward Rowland and became a military spouse traveling to many places. They were married fifteen years. She then married Gale Lee and the couple lived in Soldier, Onawa, and Whiting, Iowa. Darleen and Gale operated Dar’s OK Café in Whiting and the RaLee’s Restaurant in Onawa.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, canning, puzzles, playing cards, looming placemats, and bowling. Darleen loved to decorate for Christmas and spend time with all her family, especially all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Darleen enjoyed raising Pomeranian dogs and her love of dogs was a lifelong enjoyment even to her current dog companion, “Fluffy”.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church, U.C.C. of Whiting, Iowa.

Survivors include a son, Ron (Kathy) Sanders of Whiting, IA; daughter, Connie Reed of Sioux City, IA; two step daughters, Gaylene (John) Dickinson and Norene (Rick) Riley all of Phoenix, AZ; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Bev) Deen of Whiting, IA and Laverne (Jackine) Deen of Carroll, IA; sister-in-law, Erika Deen of Whiting, IA and numerous other relatives and friends.

Darleen was preceded in death by her parents, DeWayne and Ada; her spouses, Paul, Edward, and Gale; one sister, Jana; one brother, Gordon Deen; and one infant sister, Betty Lou.

Honorary Bearers will be Clint Reed, Chet Reed, Austin Reed, Cade Cooper, Cole Young, and Dr. John L. Garred, Jr.
