MRS. R. L. McCall PASSES

Funeral services for Mrs. Harriet Elizabeth McCall, beloved wife of Robert McCall, were held In the Community church, Friday afternoon and were attended by a large concourse of sympathizing friends.

Rest came to her after several weeks of suffering and no human aid could slay the hand of destiny that was pointing to way to the home of the soul but the golden thread of life and spun out to the last strand and then parted from Its earthly anchorage when heaven, touched the home and carried away the spirit of a beloved wife and mother.

None but those who have passed thru it can fathom the hurt of a man's soul when his mate is taken away and all the dreams and hopes of a lifetime lie withered and dead amid the beautiful blossoms that try to bespeak life while hiding death. Who can fathom the hurt of the soul? None. And yet it has come or will come to each one of us. Changing the viewpoint, of life; changing the current of our thoughts, and bringing us into the more intimate relation to the great mystery that lies beyond the flower ladened casket and the closed grave. Human tears cannot avail, nor an aching heart bring comfort. Only a faith that holds to God and only a prayer that reaches for God- keeps this old world from sinking beneath the weight of its own sorrows.

Mrs. McCall was a good and worthy woman in all that Implies a devoted wife and beloved motherhood. A kindly neighbor and respected member of the community, she rests from her labors, but is not lost from the memory of those who knew her, nor from those who knew her to love her.

The funeral service was held in the Community church at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon and was largely attended by the community in general and by a host of relatives and close friends. The services were in charge of J. E. McNamara assisted by Dr. H. B. Hawthorn. Mrs. McCall was a member of the Christian church from early youth, but as no minister of that faith resides in the community Mr. McNamara was called on; he having intimate acquaintance with the family for many years.

Tender and comforting song was offered by a choir composed of Prof. Scott, Mrs. Hansen Thomsen, Mrs. Ethel McPhillips and BT. B. Hawthorn, with Mrs. H. B Hawthorn at the piano.

The body was tenderly borne to Kennebec cemetery, followed by a large funeral cortege where it was reverently and tearfully laid to rest amid the silent companionship of the friends of other days who had gone on before. Funeral directors Mr. and Mrs. Byers, of Mapleton, had charge of the internment.
