April 4, 1889:

At Rest. Mrs. Peter Rutledge was called home by her Maker last Saturday at 11 o'clock. The direct cause was a stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Rutledge was an aged and estimable lady; the loving mother of a large family; the kind and affectionate wife of Uncle Peter Rutledge, who was called to the spirit land some three years ago. The funeral services were held at the Congregational church, Monday, conducted by Rev. C. N. Lyman, and the remains laid to rest in the Onawa Cemetery.
