Norma Jean Andresen was born September 19, 1930, the daughter of Alfred and Pauline Downey Collison. She died Thursday, August 6, 2009, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of seventy-eight.

Norma was born in Whiting, Iowa. She received her education in the Onawa schools and graduated from Onawa High School. After graduation, she worked at a bank in Onawa. On April 6, 1952, Norma was united in marriage to Andrew Martin Andresen at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm near Charter Oak and were blessed with the birth of two children.

She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family. She enjoyed making a daily journal of family events. Other favorite activities included sewing and watching sporting events on TV, especially golf. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa and a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Andrew; one brother, Bill; and one brother-in-law, Jerry. Survivors include: one son, James and Tracy; one daughter, Christine and her husband Steve; four grandchildren: Mathew; Michael; Jeremy and Tara; Jessica and Larry; four sisters: Phyllis and her husband Charles; Martha; Mary and her husband Don; and Tina and her husband Ron; one brother, Paul and his wife Connie; one brother-in-law, Louie and his wife Betty; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2009, at Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak, Iowa. Pastor Carla Johnson officiated the service and graveside rites at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Charter Oak. Congregational hymns were "Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me" and "How Great Thou Art."

Serving as pallbearers were Steve Christiansen, James Andresen, Larry Miller, Jeremy Christiansen, Michael Andresen and Mathew Andresen.

The family invited everyone to return to the Community Center and join them in fellowship and lunch served by Staley's Food Service. The Huebner Funeral Home of Charter Oak was in charge of arrangement.
