Nancy C. Linden, 85, of Whiting, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, June 10, 2019, at the Whiting Christian Church in Whiting, with Evangelist Dale Wolf officiating. Burial will follow in the Whiting City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Sunday, June 9, 2019, with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Nancy was born on November 20, 1933, to Orland and Dorothy (Edwards) Ferris, in Onawa, Iowa. She graduated from Onawa High School and continued her education at secretarial school.

Nancy married Carl Linden on December 29, 1951, and they settled on a farm near Whiting to raise their four children. They later purchased a winter home in Arizona, where Nancy loved to spend time meeting new friends.

Over the years, she worked for the Siouxland OBGYN office and for Stevenson’s in the Sioux City Mall. She also devoted much of her time to caring for others, including her mother for many years.
Nancy enjoyed crossword puzzles, shopping, socializing, meeting new people, and traveling. She was a member of the Whiting Christian Church, where she used her musical talent as the church organist for many years, and volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program.

She had a pleasant and outgoing personality. Those who knew her will remember her kindness, patience, loyalty, class, and generosity. She loved life, loved to talk, loved to laugh, loved God, and most of all, she loved her family.

Survivors include her four children, Scott (Jann) Linden of Conesville, IA, Vance (Annette) Linden of Whiting, IA, Dev Linden of Casa Grande, AZ, and Cara (John) Hilgert of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren, Cody Riessen, Leslie Langum, Paige Keller, Reid Linden, Alex Linden, Sydney Linden, Jack Hilgert, and Caroline Hilgert; four great-grandchildren, Ben Riessen, Dustin Riessen, Kellie Riessen, and Violet Keller; and many other relatives and good friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orland and Dorothy Ferris; a brother, Gordon Ferris; and her husband of 64 years, Carl Linden.
