Norma Mae Buske, daughter of Harry Maricle and Nellie Evylyn (Farrand) Staver, was born October 5, 1927 in Lena, Illinois. She passed away on Sunday, December 28,2008 at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa at the age of 81.

At a young age, Norma's family moved from Lena, Illinois to Curlew, Iowa in Palo Alto, County. She was raised and educated in Curlew and while in school, Norma enjoyed participating in basketball.

On October 1, 1944, Norma was united in marriage to Gerhard Andreas Carl Buske. To this union three sons were born: Alan, Dennis, and Dean. The family made their home in Pocahontas, Iowa and various other places before moving to Onawa in 1969.

Norma was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting and reading. She was a member of the Free Evangelical Church in Onawa.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerhard Andreas Carl Buske; three brothers: Paul, Eldon, and Doran Staver; and one sister, Violet Sobak.

She is survived by her three sons: Alan and wife, Anna of Colorado Springs, CO, Dennis and wife, Mary Ann of Smithland, IA, and Dean and wife, Denise of Onawa, IA; six grandchildren: Lora Buske of Des Moines, IA, Chris Buske of Eau Claire, WI, Sara Dannettel of Arizona, Eric Williams and wife, Amanda of Gamer, IA, Joseph Swenson of Onawa, and Jordan Buske of Onawa; five great -grandchildren: Zana, Jayden, Aden, Avery, and Alice; one sister: Viola Besaw and husband, Guy of Primghar, IA, one brother. Royal Staver and wife, Thora of Owatonna, MN; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Graveside Service was held on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Cemetery of Palmer, Iowa with Mr. Eric Williams officiating.

Pallbearers were Alan Buske, Dennis Buske, Dean Buske, Chris Buske, Eric Williams, Anna Buske, Mary Ann Buske and Denise Buske. Interment was at St. John Lutheran Cemetery of Palmer, Iowa. Prayer Service was held on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Pearson Funeral Home - Onawa, Iowa led by Pastor Paul Mahaffie. Professional Services were handled by Pearson Funeral Home.
