Geraldine "Gerry" Davis, 71, Whiting, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Pleasant View Care Center at Whiting, Iowa.

Geraldine Marie Davis was born August 24, 1937 at Sloan, Iowa, the daughter of Maurice O. and Hazel L. (Fleck) Davis. She graduated from Whiting High School in 1955. Gerry was an insurance agent and secretary at several Sioux City companies; Stark Insurance, Irwin Insurance and Sioux City Glass House. She later was a certified nurse’s aid at Pleasant View Care Center until ill health forced her retirement.

She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, St. John's Rosary Society and ABWA during the years she was a secretary. Gerry enjoyed life to its fullest whether it be time with her family or time spent with neighborhood friends. She was a practical joker and always assured a good laugh. She also had a very vast collection of Cookbooks.

Survivors include six sisters, Mary (Wayne) Taylor of Anoka, MN, Marlene Boyle of Omaha, NE, Marcene Davis of Omaha, Eileen Kelley (Ken Bagley) of Onawa, IA, Betty Roads of MO and Marva Ellen (Irvin) Dick of IL and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Hazel Davis Jones; her step- father, John Marvin Jones; grandparents; many aunts, uncles and a nephew.

A funeral mass was 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 15, 2008 at St. John's Catholic Church at Onawa, Iowa with Father Patrick O'Kane celebrant. Music selections were "How Great Thou Art", "On Eagle's Wings", "You Are Mine" and "Be Not Afraid" with Gary Linder, cantor and Lou Hewitt, organist, Burial will be at a later date at the Whiting City Cemetery. Visitation was 5:00 8:00 P.M. Sunday with a scripture prayer service at 7:30 P.M. followed by the rosary at Rush Family Care Service at Onawa, Iowa.
