14 November 2008ONAWA, Iowa -- Betty Hinkel, 75, of Onawa died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at her residence.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with Evangelist John Lizer officiating. Burial will be in Little Sioux Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Betty was born Jan. 28, 1933, in Blencoe, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Mryle Burger. She was raised in the Blencoe area and graduated from Blencoe High School.
She married Russ Hinkel and the couple lived at various locations in Woodbury and Monona counties. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company until 1983, when she retired after 33 years of service. She then earned a registered nursing degree and was employed with the Omaha Tribe of Macy, Neb., for 26 years.
She loved and lived life to the fullest.
Survivors include her husband, Russ of Onawa; a son, Stan of Castana, Iowa; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother and his wife, Bob and Ferne Burger of Lewiston, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ed; and a sister, Lila.
