Sandra Kay Weidt, 77, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.
Memorial services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 8, 2019, at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with Pastor Tim Koehn officiating. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.
Sandra Kay was born on February 26, 1942, in Omaha, Nebraska, one of Lawrence and Maybell (Shepperson) Scott’s thirteen children. She grew up in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, where she attended school. She also attended school in Whiting, Iowa.
She married Paul Willis Weidt Jr. on May 31, 1958, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa, Iowa, and to this union two children, Randal and Kim, were born. Over the years, she worked as a clothing store clerk, for Crossroads of Western Iowa, and for Casino Omaha, and she also operated an in-home daycare.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, and creating artwork, and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a very caring person who opened her heart and her home to everyone. She regularly attended the Evangelical Free Church in Onawa.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Paul Willis Weidt Jr. of Onawa, IA; children, Randal Eugene (Rhonda) Weidt of Blencoe, IA and Kim Renee Weidt of Onawa, IA; grandchildren, David (Kimberly) Weidt, Jenifer (Josh) Berdahl, Katelyn Weidt, Chad (Sharene) Allen, Valesa Parrish, and Jennifer Miller; great-grandchildren, Eva, Alex, Emersyn, Briggs, Regahn, Brita, Jada, Quinten, Zander, Kaylinn, Ashleigh, Lena, and two more on the way; and many siblings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Maybell (Shepperson) Scott, and many siblings.
