Cora Hanson, 86, Soldier, Iowa died Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at her home in Soldier.

Cora was born March 1, 1916 at Soldier, the daughter of John and Martha (Ulven) Nelson. She was raised at Soldier and graduated at Soldier High School in 1934. She attended Beauty School in Omaha and was a beautician m Soldier for many years. She was married to Guy Hanson June 1, 1937 at Soldier. Mr. Hanson passed away in 1987 in Onawa.

She was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of Ladies Aide.

Survivors include a son and his wife Ronald Guy and Beverly Hanson of South Bend, IN; two daughters and their husbands, Virginia and James Wells of Crosslake, MN. and Nancy and Elmer Petersen of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2002 at Soldier Lutheran Church at Soldier with Pastor Jack Torgersen officiating. Special music was "I Love To Tell The Story", "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Softly And Tenderly" provided by Rose Bumsted, soloist and Jean Dommer, organist. Burial was in Soldier Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8.00 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2002 at Soldier Lutheran Church. Arrangements were under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, IA.

Casket bearers were Mike Wells, Jon Porter, Jerry Tiedeman, Rick Mills, Collin Hanson, Marvin Shaffer and Doug Nelsen.

Memorials may be directed to Burgess Home Health/Hospice, Onawa.
