BLENCOE, Iowa -- Robert M. Marley, 71, of Blencoe died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Blencoe, with the Rev. Harry D. McAlpine officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary, all at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Robert was born Aug. 20, 1931, in Onawa, the son of Michael and Mary (Clodfelter) Marley. He was raised in Blencoe and graduated from Blencoe High School. He was a lifelong farmer in the Blencoe area, except for the three years he served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing baseball in his younger years.

Survivors include a daughter, Candy Witten of Orangevale, Calif.; a sister and her husband, Dorothy and John Daley of Omaha; a sister-in-law, Bette Marley of Blencoe; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Leo W.; a sister, Frances Knox; an infant brother, John Allen; and an infant sister, Betty Rose.
