ONAWA, Iowa -- Leroy H. Rhodd, 92, of Onawa died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at his residence.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa. Burial will be in Tesson Cemetery, Whitecloud, Kan. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Leroy was born Jan. 12, 1913, in Red Rock, Okla., the son of Francis Leander and Mary (Garrison) Rhodd. He was baptized in the Presbyterian faith. His mother was orphaned and was involved in the relocation of the Native Americans and was awarded 40 acres of Oklahoma land.

He married Alice Pauline Goslin on Oct. 31, 1939, in Hiawatha, Kan. She passed away Aug. 19, 1987, in Locust Grove, Okla.

He was a rodeo rider, a mason tender, a laborer at Swift and Co. in Omaha and in maintenance at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He moved to Onawa in 1987 and had lived with his daughter, Charleen, for 15 years.

He loved being with his grandbabies and watching them grow. He also enjoyed fishing and was an avid Cubs fan.

Survivors include his children, John Rhodd and his wife, Eunice and Francis L. Rhodd and his wife, Mercedes, all of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Charleen Kelly of Onawa, Joyce and her husband, Ed Brown of Omaha and Gloria and her husband, Miguel Morales of Omaha; a son-in-law, Gary Comstock of Onawa; 29 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Judith Kammerer and Lillian Chase, both of Omaha.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Beverly Comstock; a son, Edgar Rhodd; three grandchildren, Andrew Rhodd, Daniel Rhodd and James Kelly Jr.; three brothers, Harold, Claiborne and George; and a sister, Alma Rhodd.
