ONAWA, Iowa -- Robert R. "Buck" Tiemann Sr., 74, of Onawa died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, in Onawa following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. John Noer officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Robert was born Feb. 15, 1931, in Canton, S.D., the son of John William and Grace Herding (Harms) Tiemann. He was raised and educated in the Canton area.

He married Ione A. Mammenga on Nov. 12, 1954, in Monroe, S.D. The couple made their home in South Dakota before moving to the Whiting, Iowa, and Onawa areas, where they raised their five children. They owned and operated the OK Cafe in Whiting in the 1970s. He later owned and operated Buck's Repair in Onawa, where the couple made their home. He loved working as a mechanic.

He enjoyed being with friends and family, whether it be at coffee or camping. He shared many jokes to cheer those around him.

Survivors include his wife, Ione of Onawa; a son, Robert R. Tiemann Jr. and his friend, Lori Keller of Onawa; four daughters, Sheila Bieler of Onawa, Patricia and her husband, Arlen Thoreson of Soldier, Iowa, Cynthia and her husband, Fred Parks of Moorhead, Iowa, and Pamela J. Tiemann and her friend, Jack Matulich of San Jose, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five great-stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Everett "Pete" Tiemann of Portland, Ore., and Russell Tiemann of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and three sisters, Karen Scott of Sioux Falls, Frances Zuraff of Larchwood, Iowa, and Lily Mae "Honey" Harms of Sioux Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Matt Marr; a brother, John Tiemann; and two sisters, Mary Hisel and Lucille Jeffords.
