Arlyne was born Jan. 4, 1950 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City, the daughter of Hoxie Stanley and Audria (Bogenrief) Maxon. She graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in 1968.

Arlyne married Harold “Hobo” Olson in 1969 and had a son, Shane Olson.

After working several different jobs, she decided to go to St. Luke’s College of Nursing and graduated in 1992. During that time she was married to Fred Tompkins. Arlyne worked at St. Luke’s Hospital for 22 years and had been retired for the past four years. She was a people person and loved caring for people. Nursing was her calling. Survivors include her son, Shane Olson; three grandchildren, Cheyenne Olson, Dawson Olson and Zachary Olson; two great grandchildren, Lillyanna Morton and Brandon Russ, Jr.; a brother, Bill and his wife, Barb Maxon; cousin, Dennis and his wife, Diane Bogenrief; and her best friend, Shirley Olson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Audria and Hoxie Maxon; her previous husband, Harold “Hobo” Olson; an uncle, Clyde Bogenrief; and grandparents, William and Ethel Bogenrief and Pete and Jenna Maksymowicz.
