Richard “Junior” Madsen, 89, of Turin, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with Pastor Tim Cramer officiating. Burial will follow in Ingemann Cemetery near Moorhead, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Richard Bernard Madsen Jr. was born on Jan. 26, 1929, in Castana, Iowa, to Richard Sr. and Blanche (Bridgeman) Madsen. He was raised in the Turin area and graduated from Castana (IA) High School in 1947.

Junior married Joan Jeanette Crosgrove on April 14, 1951, in Sioux City. The couple lived and farmed in the Turin area, and Junior also milked cows and drove truck for friends and neighbors. Joan passed away on June 19, 2001.

He enjoyed woodworking and making crafts. He attended the United Methodist Church in Turin.

Survivors include five sons, Gary and wife, Jackie Madsen of Turin, Tim Madsen and special friend, Jolene of Turin, Brian and wife, Pam Madsen of Turin, Rick Madsen and fianceé, Joni of Toledo, Iowa, and Randy and wife, Vicky Madsen of Onawa, Iowa; two daughters, Kathy Madsen of Whiting, Iowa, and Peggy and Adam Davis of Blencoe, Iowa; grandchildren, Rory, Chris, Andrea, Mindy, Christy, Jamie, Heath, Nathan, Tracy, Sydney, Courtney, Cassandra, Michael, Wendy, Bob, Brad, Grace, and Emily; great-grandchildren, Brady, Kalie, Olivia, Devin, Taylor, Zach, Hannah, Josie, Ezra, Colby, Zayn, Zara, Jacob, Katie, Lucas, Madison, Elizabeth, Adley, and Timber; and great-great-grandchildren, Macie, Remi, Jose, and Lyla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Sr. and Blanche Madsen; his wife, Joan Madsen; infant son, Robbie Madsen; daughter, Patsy Allen; infant granddaughter, Jessica Madsen; and his brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Alice Madsen.
