Jana F. Johnson, 94, of Whiting, died Monday, July 2, 2018, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church, U.C.C. in Whiting, with the Rev. Nea Stepp officiating. Burial will be in Whiting City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Jana Fay was born on June 6, 1924, in rural Whiting, the daughter of Ralph and Dorothy (Dean) Matthews.

Jana was united in marriage to Clarence "Pinky" Johnson in San Antonio, Texas in 1944. Jana and Clarence had three daughters, Pamela, Becky, and Joan. Jana worked for the Dr. John Garred Sr. Clinic in Whiting for more than 20 years.

Jana and Clarence enjoyed many years of ballroom dancing together. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She was a very talented artist, making beautiful china paintings. She even had her own kiln where she fired the pieces herself.

She was member of First Congregational Church, U.C.C. in Whiting for more than 50 years, where she was very active and dedicated to her church.

She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Pamela (Gene) Hainault of Kenosha, Wis., Becky (Fred) Beschorner of Sergeant Bluff, and Joan (Larry) Bock of Volo, Ill.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Jana was preceded in death by infant sister, Patty Sue; her father and mother, Ralph and Dorothy (Dean) Matthews; and sister, Joann Orr.
