Marilyn A. Forbes, 83, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 28, 2018, at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with Pastor Michael Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the Rush Family Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Marilyn Ardith was born on October 31, 1934, in Blencoe, Iowa, to Alfred and Ellen (Jones) Gray. She married Lynn Holsclaw in 1952, and to that union four children were born: Kathleen, Martin, Karen, and Brian.

She was a stay-at-home mother for many years, and later became a beautician and electrologist for Younkers before opening her own electrology studio in Sioux City. Prior to retirement, she became an in-home care provider.

Listening to K-LOVE Christian radio was a part of her regular routine, as well as attending music events and other activities at Pleasant View. Becky and Marla and the Monona Country Singers were particular favorites, as well as seeing the trick-or-treaters on her birthday each year.

Marilyn was a faithful believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and attended bible readings whenever possible. She often talked of her faith and knew she had Jesus with her at all times, often saying, “He can do anything!”

Survivors include three children, Kathy Blackford of Des Moines, IA, Brian Holsclaw of Des Moines, IA, and Karen (Steve) Shultz of Onawa, IA; grandchildren, Duane Blackford of Des Moines, IA, Heather (Jeremy) MacClure of Sergeant Bluff, IA, and Randy Shultz of Sioux City, IA; great-grandchildren, Levi, Noah, and Andrew MacClure; some very special cousins and extended family members; and the Pleasant View Care Center friends and family who cared for her physical, emotional, and spiritual needs on a daily basis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Ellen Gray; one son, Martin Holsclaw; infant brother, Charles Gray; brother, Tommy Gray; and sister, Ruby Emmick.
