Loretta “Cookie” Sanderson, 36, 3700 28th St. died unexpectedly Sunday, December 1, 1991 at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pater’s United Church of Christ in Mapleton, Iowa, with the Rev. Richard Hempenius officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Mapleton. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Walter Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Sanderson, the former Loretta Myers, was born August 15, 1955 in Denison, Iowa. She grew up in the Mapleton Community and graduated from Maple Valley High School in 1974. She received nurse’s aide training at Onawa, Iowa, through Western Iowa Tech Community College. She married Randall Sanderson September 5, 1975, in Mapleton. The couple made their home in Sioux City. She was employed at the Woodbury Care Facility as a dietary assistant.

Mrs. Sanderson was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, a women’s bowling team and Friday Night Mixed League. She was a volunteer for the Kidney Foundation in Sioux City. She was in the process of organizing a transplant support group.

Survivors include her husband; her parents, Lloyd Sr. and Donna (Ruchti) Myers of Mapleton; a sister and her husband, Laura and Don Martz of Ute, Iowa; three brothers and their wives, Lloyd Jr. and Wanita of Onawa, Loren and Teresa of Lawton, Iowa and Lowell and Veta of Ash Grove, Missouri an adopted brother, Bill Robinson of Cherokee, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Leslie Jay.
