Frank Stevenson Called To Rest

Frank Stevenson, son of Hiram and Sarah Stevenson was born at Cameron, Missouria September 20, 1851. He died June 19, 1931 at the home of his son, Roy at Castana, Iowa at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 29 days. He was married to Margaret Swachamer at Cameron, Missouri in 1869.

They came to Whiting in the early part of 1880 where they lived until the death of his wife January 2, 1927.

To this union 2 children were born, Ida Hesting, deceased and Roy of Castana.

He also leaves 2 brothers, H.I Stephenson of Fairfield, Nebraska and Grant Stevenson of Loveland, Colorado. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren.

Mr. Stephensen was a nephew of Wilse McBeath, also a brother-in-law, they having married sisters.

Mr. Stevenson was for many years a member of the Modern Woodman. He will be missed, not only by his family, but by the entire community in which he has lived so long and served so faithfully and well.

For fifty years he put in his life’s labor in this county. He was one of earth’s common people, who do the work and carry the burdens and win the respect and confidence of a host of friends.

To the son left lonely to the brothers and grandchildren deeply saddened, we extend our deepest sympathy.

Funeral services were held at the Whiting Funeral Home in charge of Rev. G.H. Crocker. Henry Vanderstowe was the undertaker in charge. Comfort in song was rendered by Mrs. Beatty and Mrs. Whiting.

Interment was in the Whiting Cemetery.

(name is spelled both Stevenson and Stephenson in the paper- cemetery record has Stephenson)
