Mrs. George Treese Laid to Rest Monday

Minnie Alice Stafford was born January 19, 1867 near Elizabeteh, Indiana. She died at St. Joseph Hospital, Sioux City, June 19, 1931. Her age was 64 years and 5 months.

She was married to George T. Treese on September 2, 1892. They made their home in Illinois until 1915 when they came to Iowa where they have since lived with the exception of 3 years which they lived in Missouri.

To this union were born six children, 5 of whom are still living, one having died in infancy. They are Charles H. of Congerville, Illinois, Claude J. of Blencoe, Iowa, Clarence A. of Castle Rock, Colorado, Mrs. Beulah Coulthard of Missouri Valley, Iowa and Cecil who is at home.

Besides her husband and children, she leaves to mourn her, 2 sisters, one brother and 9 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Treese has been a member of the Methodist Church since childhood. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge of Onawa. She was a loving wife and mother, a kind neighbor and friend. She was a women of vast energy. Besides making a home where she loved to welcome neighbors and children, she was active in many public works and always ready to do her share at any friendly call of need. She will be sadly missed from her home and community.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Thos Batho at the Methodist Episcopal Church on Monday afternoon, June 22. Music was rendered by a quartet of singers comprised of Mrs. William Rowles, Mrs. T.L. Gossard, Shirly Hackett and Coad Batho with Mrs. Hackett at the piano.

The funeral was in charge of the Barnard Funeral Home. Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery.
