Onawa Democrat, Onawa, Monona, Iowa Thursday, May 1, 1930

George W. Custer was born in Harrison County, Iowa on August 2nd, 1891 and died at his home at Ticonic April 22, 1930. His home for two years ago has been at Ticonic, Iowa.

On February 15th, 1911 he was united in marriage to Kate Piatt Four children were born to this union.

He is survived by his widow and four children, Wyman aged 18; Merle aged 12; Chancey Willis aged 7 and Ethel aged 3. His mother Mrs. H. W. Custer, of Ticonic, two brothers Earl Custer of Anthon, la and Raymond Custer of Smithland, la., three sisters, Cynthia Foster of Ida Grove; Mina Foltz of Woodburn, Oregon; and Gladys Atkinson of Modesto, Cal; one half-brother, Bert Horner of Smithland and one half-sister, Mae Bridgman of Turin, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Those who have preceded him are his father, one sister and four brothers.

He was a devoted and loving husband and father and he will surely be missed by all who knew him. The funeral was preached by Rev Tyler and he was laid to rest in the Grant Cemetery
